 A Still Moment

By Rebecca Panos

We sit in the living room,

Walls of cerulean surround us

Growing dim as the sun sets on the horizon

A shiver runs up my spine,

You push yourself in deeper under your blanket

The one I made you, but I can’t seem to remember when

Time warps, to our will

Our bodies sink into the couch

As the wee hours of the morning creep in over us

Your string lights flicker,

Hung around the window,

Outlining its frame

The warm light rests on your face,

Blue eyes shine green in the golden light,

Freckles fleck your face,

Your rosy lips tug upward in a soft curve

Are invisible strings pulling at the corners

or was it something that I said?
